Report of SEMINAR ON "KNOW TB NO TB"
SEMINAR LEAD BY PRIYA AND AMIT GAVASKAR ,CLASS -VIII

Eradication through awareness is a very effective method for prevention of Tuberculosis..24th march is TB awareness Day.The seminar was very informative and interesting as the entire programme was managed by students.

The important points discussed are as follows

1. TB is cuased by bactiria Microbacterium tuberculosis.
2. The bactiria invades all the parts of the body and damages the tissues like alimentary canal and bones also get affected.
3. It is transmitted mainly by air through sputum of a patient.
4. The treatment of TB is based on drugs, diet, rest, surgery, rehabilitation and health education.

The second session was interesting question round in which students get their doubts cleared by seminar leaders.The striking questions includes:-

The term DOTS is always relating to TB, what does it mean?(Asked by Kamal class VIII)

Amit answred it as

DOTS means Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse, a treatment strategy in which the patients are directly observed by the doctor in entire periods of the disease and make sure that the drugs prescribed are taking in due course.

What a TB patient can do not to spread his disease to others(Qustion asked by Rashmi Class-VIII)

Priya answred it as

For a TB patient it is necessary to cover his /her mouth while coughing, not to spit indiscreetly, to stay away from young children etc.

TUBER CULOSIS

Mycobacterium    tuberculosis

TB   is caused by a bacterium   named  Mycobacterium    tuberculosis.   TB release a toxin   called tuberculin.  The lungs are the favorite   sites for the  disease  TB.   TB  is  one  of  the  major  health  problems  in  our  country  and  about  one in every  100  person  may  be  suffering  from  it about   5  percent  of  the people  suffering  from  TB  die  every  year.   The symptoms of tuberculosis appear gradually in  a  patient  .  Persistent  cough  for  more  than  3  weeks  and  low  grade  fever  are  the  earliest  symptoms  of TB.  The  correct  diagnosis  of  TB  is  made  on  the  basis  of  a  positive  skin  test  ,  eradication   through   awareness  is a very  effective  method  for  the  prevention  of  TB .World  TB  day  is  conducted  on  24  march .   The  patient  who  has  TB  problem  should  cover  his/ her  mouth  while  coughing.

It is worlds largest diary co-operation started in an era of milk shortages with milk powder and butter oil gifted by the world food organizations. The national diary development board(NDDB) was set up under the chairmanship of Dr. Verghese Kurien to tap and channelize the country’s milk potential. Operation flood a diary co-operative system encourages and evolved by Dr. Kurien on a national scale has steered the country from milk scarcity to surplus for other milk products also. He also helped country by increasing its potential through milk. Under the NDDB six million diary owners in 50,000 co-operatives produce, process and market throughout India. Nick named as father of white revolution has been a great person to successfully complete the operation flood he has also honoured by the world prize and paid mavibushan. (In 1989he won the world food prize).
